I'm 42 and really need to shed some major weight. I'd love to do weight loss surgery or lap band but I'm just too scared to go under the knife. I don't exercise much cuz there's not a lot that I can do right now other than walk do water fitness class twice a week. I'm a former Lifetime Member of Weight Watchers (reaching goal as a preteen or teen - can't hardly remember that far back) and I'm currently in a TOPS group. I need that group support for accountability as I don't believe much in will-power anymore. I'm not a fan of veggies and fruit - which I'm trying to change. I can use all the motivation and prayers your can send my weigh (lol).

In TOPS this month I have lost a whopping 10 pounds!!!!so.......I will get an award for losing the most weight in a month at next weeks meeting. I am so proud of myself!!! The only thing that I did drastically different was to give up sodas this month.

I took my measurements and in one month (July 8 - Aug. 8) I've lost.......

1/2 inch from chest
1/2 inch from upper arms
1/2 inch from thighs

OMG - I'm so excited!!! I lost 6 and 1/4 pounds this week. I bought clothes this week and am one size smaller. I have a totally new hairdo (a diagonal forward Bob) and I just feel like I'm a totally new person. I have new self-esteem and feel more outgoing and fun to be around. Heck - I actually like myself now!! Now I have less than 100 pounds to lose!!!

Good morning lady bug... and How goes it for you??? Bet ur still wishing you were on vacation somewhere huh?? I can't wait to get back to walking and exercising...

I ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich this morning... AND a big ole banana...WAY too much sugar, I think I'm on a sugar high... NOT good!! :)

I am so totally upset with myself for gaining 2 and 1/2 pounds this week. I don't think I did anything to deserve that. I've exercised like normal. I just don't like fruits and veggies, is all. I haven't really been snacking and I even craved pizza like crazy this week and totally avoided it. I wanted to lose these 5 pounds by July 1st but they're still here after an entire month. I so sick of being fat!!!!!!!!!!

I lost one pound while on vacation!!

I got compliments from a co-worker who lives in my neighborhood while out walking last night!!

Tonight after my 30 minute walk I was at the beginning of my street decided to jog until I reached my house. I jogged past 7 houses!!! I didn't think I could be able to do that at all. YIPPEE!!!

You are doing a great job. Your daily exercising, is a big step.
You should be so proud of the committment you made and have stayed with.
You are probably building muscle with the workouts and might not see the scale move, but I bet you notice it in your clothes.

You are a inspiration to many, keep up the great work.

In the month of June I walked 25 minutes every day. This month I've increased it to 30 minutes a day. I think I'll increase my walking time 5 minutes each month.

I'm highly disappointed this evening cuz I gained 1 and 1/2 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I've exercised 12 out of the last 14 days. I'm not gonna give up my exercise routine tho - perhaps I gained muscle?? I feel that exercise is now a part of my daily routine - it's become a habit!!!

There's no 'car washing' for a workout activity so I listed it as Core Stability since I'm using my abs for washing the wheels and continually bending stretching.

I am worried about Weighing in on Tuesday too. My eating this weekend has been terrible. I am an emotional eater and because I have chronic nerve pain, I eat because of the pain.
We will do this, one day at a time, one meal.
The group will help get you and all of us through the good and bad times.
Just keep emailing and we will be the motivation and support you need.
You do the same for us too.
This is a life journey and there will be times, that we don't do as good as we should. But we are human and not perfect, its okay.
We have to forgive ourselves and remember our next meal is a new beginning.

One day at a time. We can do it... And together we will !!!!!

I'm worried about weighing in on Tuesday night. My eating hasn't been too good the past couple of days. It's not like I'm binge eating or anything but just not eating the usual veggies fruit.

Hi Music,

Thank you for the comment and for being a big part of our thread.
I think we all can use the help of people who understand our journey with weight.
Everyone has different lives, different ideas, but some might work for some of us, some may not. But the encouragement along the way, just might help us reach our goal.
I am not a big vegetable eater too, so I am also learning to try different ones and eat more of them. I love my sweets, that is what I miss the most.
I am hoping in time, that I won't craze them so much. Right now, I still do.
Enjoy the day and keep going. You are doing great.

I went bowling today but that's not listed as an activity in the workout session - darn it. I only walked 20 minutes today cuz my knees are absolutely killing me. I need some pain meds I guess - lol.

You should be very proud of yourself.
I agree with what Jill said to have one free day each week, and just enjoy something you really really want. Then our weight loss journey doesn't seem so much like a diet, but living a healthy lifestyle. I also think you are suppose to take a day off from exercising unless its just walking. But once you get into more toning, you are not suppose to workout every day, your body needs a break.
You should be very proud of yourself.
And yes, you can do anything we set our mind too.
One day at a time, one meal at a time.

I just weighed in at TOPS tonight, after 2 long weeks, and I lost 3 pounds!! Yay me!!! I'm so incredibly excited. I've exercised for 14 days in a row I've never felt better. Those endorphins are wonderful - I've had a better, positive outlook on life these past 2 weeks. I'm creating new healthy habits for myself and I feel like a new person. My goal is to lose 4 pounds within these next 2 weeks. I believe I can do it, too!!!

I've had the most perfect week (both eating exercising) but my TOPS meeting was canceled tonight. I was so looking forward to weighing in cuz I knew I would've lost big time tonight. It's so disappointing to me. So....I won't be able to log in my weight for another whole week - grrrrr. I guess I'll just have one huge weight loss to record then. My first reaction was to just throw in the towel pig out but I'm not gonna let that ruin my perfect week - no way!!!

Colleen - one of the best things that I ever did during my weight loss many years ago was to have one day be a "free day" For me it was Friday's because we played darts at the Legion on Fridays.

Friday I could have nachos, ribs, wings... whatever I wanted. I'd read somewhere that you can't eat enough in one day to mess up the other six good days (as long as they're good days!)

I loved having my nachos SO much that I was extra careful all week. As time passed, I found that on Fridays I actully didn't WANT as much fatty food... my tolerance for it had gone down.

SO... go have that pizza, girl. Enjoy yourself. YOu deserve it.

Since I don't eat many fruits veggies I decided to take a regular daily vitamin (One a Day - Weight Smart). I've had salad 3 times this week yogurt twice. I had Mama's Pizza this week I still can't believe I lost weight. It's very heavy dough/crust but with a hint of garlic and not as much tomato sauce. I crave pizza like crazy it was yummy but I won't be having that again any time soon.I had to work really hard exercising to work that off. I want to loss 7 more pounds before my son's birthday (coming up in 4 weeks). Wish me luck!!
